Hever Triathlon - The Season Grand Finale
The last big event of the triathlon season is the Hever Castle Triathlon, the finale of the Castle Triathlon Series. Set in the stunning grounds of the Tudor castle this is more a weekend festival of all things triathlon, rather than just a race. With everything from the mighty Gauntlet (Half Iron man distance) to Sprints, Super Sprints, Olympic distance and two whole afternoons of children’s racing. There really is something for everyone.
The Gauntlet course is a tough one, especially the bike route which follows exactly the same course as “The Bastion” (Iron Man distance) Event. The saving grace being you only ride the circuit once! Through the stunning scenery of the High Weald this constantly undulating course gives you no pause for recovery. Coupled with the soft ground of the cross country running stage, there were thousands of very tired legs indeed.
Working with a team of independent massage therapists in the Sixphysio marquee we collectively treated nearly 200 competitors and a few stressed spectators as well! The post-race treatment comprising gently flushing out the waste products from exhausted muscles, restoring movement, easing sore backs and tight shoulders. Making the road to recovery that little bit easier.
We were blessed with big blue skies and beautiful sunshine, our marquee ending up being quite a sun trap. With the bands playing and the constant back drop of encouraging cheers, ringing cowbells it was a wonderful event with a great atmosphere.
Apparently they are taking bookings for next year already………
